Accreditation is extremely important when choosing which online high school is right for you. The American Academy is an AdvancED/Cognia accredited online school, which means we have gone through thorough reviews and we provide a level of education equal to that of a traditional high school. Schools and employers will recognize the diploma you earn with The American Academy. Our accreditation status with AdvancED/Cognia can be viewed here.
Licensed, passionate, and dedicated teachers instruct all of our courses. Teachers are available to you during specified business hours.
Our interactive online high school curriculum is a total of 20 credits, which includes core courses such as English and math, plus the option to choose from a variety of different courses for electives. The maximum number of credits you can take with our diploma program is 23, including transfer credits, and there is a 2 credit residency requirement.
If you have more than 2.0 credits remaining to finish your high school diploma this is the best and most cost effective option for you.
After providing us with your transcripts, we will complete an evaluation and then assist you with determining which courses you should take.
We encourage students who would like to attend college after graduating to take national testing. Please follow the links for more information:
Students may also apply for financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) here.
Working without a high school diploma may prove financially challenging, but we offer a competitive tuition of $999. If you pay in full you can save an extra $200 and only pay $799. Payment plans are available for students who require an option to pay for their studies. Students who choose the payment plan option are expected to make and commit to regular monthly payments. Please read our student handbook so you clearly understand our refund & cancellation policy or contact an enrollment counselor. You can select from payments as low as $45 per month. There are no additional material fees.
Students who participate in the payment plan and elect to withdraw without completing the diploma program will be responsible for paying the difference owed at the individual per credit cost from TAA’s credit enhancement/recovery program to release the credits earned.
If you are interested in learning more about our payments visit our High School Diploma page and click the payment plan button.
A student working approximately 25/hours week could complete 2.5 credits in 10 weeks.
Refunds are available to students who pay the full cost of the diploma upfront or are enrolled in the short-term month payment plan (less than three total payments). A refund must be requested in writing via email to firstname.lastname@example.org within 10 business days of enrollment. A full refund will be issued if the request is received within the allotted time frame and the courses have not been started. If coursework has been attempted and the refund is requested within the designated time frame, a full refund will be issued minus a $99 administrative fee. (Students who have paid upfront in full may request a refund within the first four weeks of enrollment, but the administrative fee will apply if courses were attempted.)
Students on an extended long-term monthly payment (four or more monthly payments) are not eligible to receive a refund. By agreeing to participate in the program and committing to diploma completion with the associated financial obligation, students who withdraw early are no longer financially associated with the diploma program. They are responsible for the individual credit cost for completed courses, instead. The per-credit cost is published on the TAA website.
If you have any questions on our refund policy please contact an enrollment counselor prior to making a purchase.
