Education Sales Executive

The American Academy is looking for Education Sales Executives to join our team. The chosen candidates will be responsible for promoting the mission of The American Academy through sales to public schools throughout the United States.

Our ideal candidates have high school teaching or leadership and administration experience, with a passion for promoting online learning and how it can help schools retain students, recover dropouts and increase funding. Experience in educational product sales, online education and social entrepreneurship are key qualifications.

This is a full-time position requiring 70-80% US-based travel. Our school office is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, but the right candidate may telecommute from his or her home office. Compensation is comprised of a base salary and clearly-defined commission schedule with the total compensation range between $120-180k in the first year.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and qualify schools and school districts who are candidates for The American Academy's program offerings.
  2. Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers within prospect accounts.
  3. Close contracts with schools and school districts, and smoothly transition new customers to our Academic Affairs team.
  4. Learn and master our School-as-a-Service™ program and benefits, and deliver presentations to prospect accounts
  5. Understand school and school district budgets, and legislation pertaining to enrollment and per-pupil funding, and be able to articulate how our offerings meet their needs and legislative requirements.
  6. Work with our Marketing team to develop messaging, initiatives and programs aimed at our target audience.
  7. Attend, present and participate in presentations and workshops at key national trade shows and conferences
  8. Maintain pipeline opportunities in our CRM system

Desired Experience and Requirements:

  • Experience and passion for mission-oriented sales, preference given to public education sales experience.
  • Master of Education or similar degree from a 4-year University or College.
  • 5+ years experience in high school teaching and/or administration is not required but is highly desirable
  • Persuasive and engaging written and oral communication skills
  • Curiosity and good listening skills are critical. Ability to adapt to different social styles over the phone.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently.
  • Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of web-based applications for online learning, contact management and scheduling. Experience with web-based CRM tools, such as Salesforce.com, SugarCRM or Infusionsoft. Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent.
