What You Should Know About NAAS AccreditationWhy is accreditation important? The American Academy is accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS). You can find the NAAS logo prominently displayed on our website and all of course course completion certificates and diplomas are embossed with the NAAS seal which is available only to members. In order to earn accreditation through the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, The American Academy had to document compliance with all of the NAAS standards in areas ranging from school vision, curriculum, instruction, and school leadership, to student services, facilities and finance, and continuous improvement. Regional accreditation is a way to validate that the credits or diploma you earn at The American Academy will be recognized by schools, colleges and universities, employers, and the U.S. military. How can I be sure that NAAS accreditation is legitimate? The Northwest Association of Accredited Schools is one of six regional accrediting bodies. The US Department of Education publishes a list of legitimate accrediting agencies. You can find the list, which includes the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, here: http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ous/international/usnei/us/edlite-a... This US Department of Education website states: "Each association listed below is recognized by CHEA, ASPA, and/or the Secretary of Education, and the institutions it accredits may be considered legitimate components of the U.S. education system."
