      In this online U.S. Government course, students will be introduced to the concept of government, politics, and civic life. They will examine the purpose of government, and compare and contrast the impact that different types of governments have on people. Students will then learn about the origins of the U.S. Constitution and U.S. government. They will examine the function and structure of our government, and identify the roles that federal agencies have in helping to carry out the laws. They will discuss the principles and values that the Constitution promotes and explore the Amendments and their importance.

      In the second part of the U.S. Government online course, students will define the functions and powers of state and local governments and compare and contrast their structures. They will study political structure and process, including political parties, voting, civic participation, and how our government is influenced by organizations and people within the states. The course ends with an exploration of foreign policy, how our foreign policy is made, and how the U.S. has influenced the rest of the world.
